  1. The return of Jon Stewart and the role of the funny jokemen. Stewart’s return to The Daily Show betrays what all of the late-night comedians’ roles have always been: to provide partisan hack analysis under the cover of comedy. It also highlights the almost hypnotic effect of every segment of these shows.

  2. What men look at versus what women look at when walking home. It has a lame, hand-wringing conclusion, but it’s interesting.

The study, led by BYU public health professor Robbie Chaney, provides clear visual evidence of the constant environmental scanning women conduct as they walk in the dark, a safety consideration the study shows is unique to their experience.

  3. The unannounced edits of Alicia Keys's performance at the Super Bowl hint at a bigger problem. If they’ll edit and scrub for things as trivial as a sour note, what else are they editing and scrubbing? People are right to distrust. Great thread.

In 5-10 years, we'll all be fighting over whether Keyes actually flubbed the opening notes of her Superbowl performance because our memories will be at odds with the “official” record.
