  1. The example of Brendan Eich after he was cancelled from his own company. A great read and reminder to not fear, but build anyway, trusting that your efforts are committed to Christ.

I am not here to complain about cancel culture. Brendan Eich does not. He is too busy. He refuses to be defined by the evil done to him, or by the purported heterodoxy of his beliefs, but by the work he does and by his character, as known by those closest to him.

  2. A quick dive into basketball analytics. When a data nerd gets more involved in his daughter’s basketball team. Also a great overview on the current challenges of building a team in the current college basketball environment.

A great team is an organism that always performs better than the raw sum of its parts. A great lineup is one where individuals amplify each other, making that possible.

Those lineups are what Jack was after — he wanted to get statistical visibility on chemistry.

  3. The aesthetics and message in the movie Kingdom of Heaven. Film is a visual medium, and this Twitter thread summarizes how powerful it can be, to the point of contradicting the intended message.

Kingdom of Heaven is such a fantastic example of how aesthetics, when done right, will win out every time in hearts and minds, and how artistic mediums such as film (like any art) will have its greatest impact in ways its creators often aren't able to predict.
